Scheme Introduction: A Brief Overview

• Karnataka SC Inter Caste Marriage Assistance Scheme is the major welfare scheme of Karnataka Government towards removing caste based discrimination.
• The primary objective of this scheme is to eradicate casteism from the society and make every person of Karnataka at par with each other without any caste based discrimination.
• To oversee and the implementation of the scheme, the Commissionerate of Social Welfare is appointed as the nodal agency of this scheme.
• Under the Karnataka SC Inter Caste Couple Marriage Assistance Scheme, state government provide financial assistance of : -
  • Rs. 2.50 Lakh if SC Man marries a woman of another caste.
  • Rs. 3.00 Lakh if SC Woman marries a man of another caste.
• As it is clear from the name that it is an inter caste marriage assistance scheme, it is mandatory either man or woman should belong to Schedule Caste Category.
• Financial Assistance under Inter Caste Couple Marriage Assistance Scheme is only provided to those Schedule Caste residents of Karnataka who marry a Non Schedule Caste Hindu Person.
• State government also started a similar scheme called Karnataka ST Inter Caste Couple Marriage Assistance Scheme for the people of ST categories
• To receive the assistance amount, the Annual Family Income of the couples should not exceeds Rs. 5,00,000/-.
• Marriages held after 01-04-2018 are eligible for financial assistance under Karnataka SC Inter Caste Couple Marriage Assistance Scheme.
• It is mandatory for the beneficiary to apply for the scheme within 1 year of their marriage because application submitted after one year will not be considered.
• While submitting applications for Karnataka SC Inter Caste Couple Marriage Assistance Scheme, applicants must provide their necessary documents, including marriage certificate, domicile, caste certificate and others.
• Eligible Beneficiaries can apply for financial assistance by filling the Online Application Form of Karnataka SC Inter Caste Couple Marriage Assistance Scheme.

Scheme Benefits

• The following financial assistance will be provided to Married Couples of Karnataka if either Bride or Groom belongs to the Schedule Caste Category :-
  • Rs. 2,50,000/- will be given to Men (Groom).
  • Rs. 3,00,000/- will be given to Women (Bride).

Eligibility Requirements

• Groom and Bride should be Permanent Residents of Karnataka.
• Either Bride or Groom should belong to Schedule Caste Category.
• Marriage should be held after 01-04-2018.
• The Annual Family Income of a Couple should be less than Rs. 5,00,000/-
• Application should be submitted within 1 year of marriage.

Steps to Apply

• Applicants can apply for financial assistance under Karnataka SC Inter Caste Couple Marriage Assistance Scheme by filling Online Application Form.
• Online Application Form of Karnataka Government's Schedule Caste Inter Caste Marriage Assistance Scheme is available on Department of Social Welfare Website.
• Applicant need to Register by submitting the aadhaar number of both couple.
• After Registration fill the personal details, contact details and marriage details, bank account details of Bride and Bride Groom in the Application Form.
• Upload all the mandatory documents in the portal.
• Preview the Application Form and Submit it.
• Print the Acknowledgement Receipt and secure it for future reference.
• Application Form along with all the documents will be scrutinized by the District Social Welfare Officer.
• After successful verification, the financial assistance under Karnataka SC Inter Caste Couple Marriage Assistance Scheme will be transferred to beneficiary bank account.
