Scheme Introduction: A Brief Overview

• In recent times, the Karnataka government has announced various schemes for the welfare of its citizens.
• The SC Widow Re-Marriage Assistance Scheme of Karnataka is one the major welfare schemes launched by the Government of Karnataka.
• This scheme is similar to the Karnataka ST Widow Re-Marriage Assistance Scheme, where the benefits is provided to ST categories women's.
• The main objective behind launching this SC Widow Re-Marriage Assistance is to support the resettlement of widows from scheduled caste category whose lives have been shattered after their husband death.
• The Commissionerate of Social Welfare of Karnataka Government is the nodal agency of this scheme.
• Under the Karnataka SC Widow Re-Marriage Assistance Scheme, the state government is providing financial assistance of Rs. 3,00,000/- for the Re-Marriage of Widows of Karnataka.
• However, women's who received the assistance under the simple marriage in their previous marriage will only receive assistance of Rs 2.50 Lakh under this scheme.
• Only Widows belonging to Schedule Caste Category are eligible to avail the benefit of financial assistance under Karnataka SC Widows Re-Marriage Assistance Scheme.
• Women are free to choose husband of their choice, irrespective of his caste or religion.
• Anyone fulfilling the necessary eligibility conditions can apply for the scheme, as there is no annual income limit.
• Both the applicant and her spouse must be permanent residents of Karnataka.
• It is mandatory to apply for financial assistance within 1 year of re-marriage.
• Applications submitted after 1 year will not be entertained by the authority.
• Death Certificate and Identity Proof of Widow's Deceased Husband should be required at the time of applying for financial assistance.
• Marriage Certificate is required at the time of applying for Karnataka SC Widow Remarriage Assistance Scheme.
• Eligible Beneficiaries can apply for financial assistance by filling the Online Application Form of Karnataka Widow Remarriage Assistance Scheme.

Scheme Benefits

• The state government promised to provide following financial assistance to Karnataka Widows for her Re-Marriage under Karnataka SC Widow Re-Marriage Assistance Scheme : -
  • Financial Assistance of Rs. 3,00,000/-
  • Assistance of Rs 2.50 Lakh to such beneficiaries who received assistance under the simple marriage.

Eligibility Requirements

• Beneficiaries should be a Permanent Residents of Karnataka.
• Applicant Should be a Re-Married Widow and belongs to Schedule Caste Category.
• Widow Should be Re-Married to get Eligible for Financial Assistance.
• There is No Annual Family Income Limit.
• Application should be submitted within 1 year of marriage.
• Spouse of a Widow should be belong to any Caste or Religion.

  • Aadhar Card of Bride and Bride Groom.
  • Caste Certificate.
  • Bank Account Details.
  • Marriage Photograph.
  • Marriage Certificate.
  • Identity Proof of Deceased Husband.
  • Death Certificate of Deceased Husband.
  • Mobile Number.

Steps to Apply

• Eligible widows of Karnataka can apply for financial assistance under Karnataka SC Widow Re-Marriage Assistance Scheme by filling Online Application Form.
• Online Application Form of SC Widow Re-marriage Assistance Scheme of Karnataka Government is available on Social Welfare Department Website.
• Beneficiary has to Register by entering the Aadhaar number of her and his spouse.
• After Registration fill the personal details, contact details and marriage details, bank account details of Bride and Bride Groom in the Application Form.
• Upload all the mandatory documents in the portal.
• Preview the Application Form and Click on Submit Button.
• Take the print out of the Acknowledgement Receipt for future reference.
• Application Form and uploaded documents will be verified by the District Social Welfare Officer.
• After successful verification, the financial assistance under Karnataka Widow Re-Marriage Assistance Scheme will be transferred in the given bank account of the beneficiary.
