Scheme Introduction : A Brief Overview
- In the wake of the Delhi assembly elections, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has announced a major initiative called the "Sanjeevani Scheme".
- The primary objective of the scheme is to provide free medical treatment to middle class individuals, irrespective of caste or religion.
- The scheme specifically targets senior citizens of Delhi aged 60 and above.
- The Sanjeevani Scheme promises free medical benefits to all domiciled senior citizens of Delhi.
- There is no limit in the cost of treatment under the Sanjeevani Yojana.
- Additionally, there is no income limit to be eligible for the scheme.
- The Sanjeevani Yojana directly compete with the centrally sponsored Ayushman Yojana, which offers medical facilities up to Rs 5 lakh per household.
- Free Medical benefits under the Sanjeevani Scheme will be provided in both government as well as Private hospitals.
- The announced scheme will also be known as "Delhi Mukhyamantri Sanjeevani Yojana", or "Mukhyamantri Sanjivani Scheme".
- Scheme is likely to benefit all senior members of a family, whose details are yet to be announced.
- The government has already started the registration process of Mukhyamantri Sanjeevani Yojana.
- AAP workers and volunteers will do door to door registrations across the state.
- Also, various registration stalls for the scheme are installed by the AAP where eligible beneficiaries can enroll themselves.
- For registration, beneficiaries aged 60 and above need to provide their Voter ID card, and their names should be listed on the voter list.
- Beneficiaries whose names are not listed in the voter roll must complete the voter roll process before registering.
- After successful registration, a 'Kejriwal Kavach Card' will be issued to each beneficiary.
- This card ensures the medical expenses of senior citizens that will be covered under the scheme.
- However, the Mukhyamantri Sanjeevani Yojana will only be implemented if AAP wins the upcoming assembly elections and returns to power.
- It is expected that approximately 15 lakh beneficiaries can avail of the scheme benefits.
- Currently, the scheme is just a pre-poll promise of Aam Aadmi Party, which will be implemented if the party wins the election.

Scheme Benefits
- Eligible beneficiary will receive following benefits, under the Mukhyamantri Sanjeevani Yojana : -
- Free Medical Facilities will be provided to all senior citizens.
- Treatment provided under the scheme has no limit.
- Medical facilities will be provided in Government as well as in private hospitals.
Eligibility Requirements
- To receive free medical treatment under the Mukhyamantri Sanjeevani Scheme beneficiary must meet the following eligibility criteria : -
- Beneficiary must be a domiciled senior resident of NCT Delhi.
- Beneficiary age must be 60 and above.
- There is no income limit to avail benefits
- Central and Delhi Government employees are likely to be excluded.
- Other conditions will be stated later in the scheme guidelines.
Required Documents
- Beneficiary must furnish their following document when registering for Mukhyamantri Sanjeevani Scheme, whose lists are given below : -
- Voter ID Card.
- Ration Card.
- Aadhaar Card.
- Mobile Number.
- Passport Size photograph.
Steps to Apply
- The Delhi government has commenced the registration process for the Mukhyamantri Sanjeevani Scheme.
- Registration for the Mukhyamantri Sanjeevani Scheme can be completed through door to door campaigns or at scheme stalls set up by the AAP.
- Eligible beneficiaries need to share their voter ID cards during the registration process.
- Post this, volunteers will verify whether the beneficiary's name is present in the voter roll.
- Once verified, beneficiaries will need to give a missed call on the number shared by the volunteer.
- Beneficiary will then receive an OTP on their mobile number.
- Using this OTP beneficiary registration will be completed.
- Post registration, volunteers will issue a registration slip and a 'Kejriwal Kavach card' to the beneficiary.
- With this card, beneficiary can avail free medical treatment across Delhi.
