Scheme Introduction: A Brief Overview

• Finance Minister Sh. Kanubhai Desai presents the budget of Gujarat Government for the year 2024-2025 in the assembly on 02-02-2024.
• He announced to start 3 new welfare schemes in and "Gujarat Namo Saraswati Vigyan Sadhana Yojana" is one of them.
• Namo Saraswati Vigyan Sadhana Yojana is going to be the major welfare scheme for the students of Gujarat.
• The announced scheme is also known by some other names in Gujarat which are :-
  • "Namo Saraswati Merit Scholarship Scheme".
  • "Namo Saraswati Vigyan Sadhana Scheme"
  • "Gujarat Vigyan Sadhana Merit Scholarship Scheme".
  • "Namo Saraswati Scheme".
  • "Namo Saraswati Yojana"
  • "નમો સરસ્વતી યોજના".
• The main objective behind starting Namo Saraswati Vigyan Sadhana Yojana is to encourage and motivate students to pursue science stream after passing class 10th.
• The Education Department of Gujarat is the nodal department of this scheme.
• Enrolling in science stream in class 11th will open up ample opportunities for students in future which will help them to secure jobs in science and technology related sectors.
• Government estimated that post Namo Saraswati Vigyan Sadhana Yojana implementation, the number of students enrolled in science stream is likely to be increased from 2 lakh to 5 lakh per year.
• Scholarship of Rs. 25,000/- for 2 years will be provided to those students under Namo Saraswati Vigyan Sadhana Yojana who opt science stream in Class 11th after passing Class 10th Examination.
• Rs. 10,000/- will be provided to eligible students while studying in Class 11th.
• Whereas, Rs. 15,000/- will be provided in Class 12th.
• Scholarship Amount Distribution Criteria of Namo Saraswati Vigyan Sadhana Yojana are as follows :-
  • Rs. 1,000/- per Month for 10 months in Class 11th. (Total Rs. 10,000/-)
  • Rs. 1,000/- per Month for 10 Months in Class 12th. (Total Rs. 10,000/-)
  • Remaining Rs. 5,000/- will be provided to Students after they successfully pass Class 12th Board Examination.
• Only those students are eligible to apply for scholarship under Namo Saraswati Yojana who opt science stream at the time of admission in Class 11th.
• Gujarat Government fixed the budget of Rs. 250/- Crore for the year 2024-2025 for the implementation of Gujarat Namo Saraswati Vigyan Sadhana Yojana.
• Namo Saraswati Vigyan Sadhana Yojana Guidelines was released by Government of Gujarat on 12th of March 2024.
• Authority yet to develop the Namo Saraswati Vigyan Sadhana Yojana portal, where students can collect all details about the scheme.

Scheme Benefits

• Scholarships to students enrolled in science stream.
• Students will receive a scholarship of Rs 25,000/-.
• Scholarship will be credited to students' account in equal instalment of Rs 1,000/- for 10 months in class 11th and 12th.
• After clearing the board examination the remaining Rs 5,000/- will be credited.
• Scholarship that are provided to higher secondary science stream students in their Class 11th and Class 12th under Namo Saraswati Vigyan Sadhana Yojana of Gujarat Government are as follows :-

Eligibility Requirements

• Namo Saraswati Vigyan Sadhana Yojana benefits will be provided to only those students who fulfil the following eligibility conditions which is set by Gujarat Government : -
  • Beneficiary should be regular student of Class 11th or Class 12th.
  • Beneficiary Student should have secure 50% marks in Class 10th.
  • Beneficiary Student should have Science Stream as a Subject.
  • Student should be belong to Low and Middle Income Households.
  • Annual family income should be less than Rs 6,00,000/-

• The documents that are required at the time of applying for financial assistance/ scholarship under Namo Saraswati Vigyan Sadhana Yojana of Gujarat Government are as follows : -
  • Residence Proof/ Domicile of Gujarat.
  • Income Certificate.
  • Caste Certificate. (If Applicable)
  • Bank Account Details.
  • Aadhar Card.
  • Mobile Number.
  • Parent's Aadhar Card.
  • Education Related Documents.

Steps to Apply

• Eligible students can apply for the Namo Saraswati Vigyan Sadhana Yojana.
• School will submit the scheme application form on students behalf.
• Students need to submit the essential documents with the school admin department.
• It is mandatory to share bank account details and Aadhaar numbers.
• After receiving the details, the school nodal department will prepare a list of students who are eligible to receive assistance under the Namo Saraswati Vigyan Yojana.
• Based on the list, the school authority will fill the online application form of Namo Saraswati Vigyan Yojana.
• The nodal department i.e. education department of Gujarat will verify these applications.
• Applications successfully clear the scrutiny test will receive its intimation via SMS or Email.
• The Nodal Department will then transfer the monthly assistance to students' bank accounts.
