Scheme Introduction: A Brief Overview

  • The Karnataka state government has launched yet another women centric initiative called the "Telangana Sewing Machine Scheme".
  • This initiative aims to support minority women of Telangana to make them self sustained.
  • To achieve this, the state government has introduced 'Sewing Machine Scheme'.
  • State government announced this scheme under its "Telangana Indiramma Mahila Shakti" initiative.
  • Under the initiative, sewing machines will be provided to minority women free of cost, without levying any charges.
  • The primary objective of the Telangana Free Sewing Machine Scheme is to empower women, providing them a means to earn their livelihood.
  • Though the scheme aims to benefit women, its benefits are restricted to women from minority communities.

  • Announced scheme is also referred to as "Indiramma Mahila Shakti Free Sewing Machines Scheme" or "Free Sewing Machine Scheme Telangana" or "Indiramma Mahila Free Sewing Machine" or "Indiramma Mahila Shakti Sewing Machine Thittam" or"Free Sewing Machine Scheme for Minority Women".
  • Necessary tailoring skills are mandatory to receive a free sewing machine under the Indiramma Mahila Shakti Scheme.
  • Women who have completed tailoring training courses from government recognized institutes or TGMFC training partners will be preferred.
  • Women aged between 18 to 55 years and with a minimum education qualification of class 5 can apply.
  • Beneficiary women must be unemployed and have an annual income less than Rs 1.5 lakh for rural areas and Rs 2 lakh for Urban areas.
  • Eligible women can apply online for the Indiramma Mahila Shakti Free Sewing Machine Scheme.
  • The application form for Telangana Free Sewing Machines are available at Telangana Online Beneficiary Management and Monitoring System Portal.
  • It is mandatory for the applicants to submit a self declaration with their applications, confirming that they have not availed any benefits from the department in the last five years.
  • The minority women of Telangana must submit the Free Sewing Machine Scheme applications within the given deadline.
  • The last date to submit the registration form for the Free Sewing Machine Scheme is December 31, 2024.
  • Applications received beyond this date will not be considered by the authority unless they extend the application deadline.
  • Only one sewing machine will be provided to one woman from each household.

Eligibility Requirements

  • To receive free sewing machine under the Indiramma Mahila Shakti Scheme, beneficiary women must meet the following eligibility criteria : -
    • Women must be domiciled residents of Telangana.
    • Women must belong to a the following minority community.
      • Muslims.
      • Sikhs.
      • Buddhist.
      • Jains.
      • Parsi.
    • Applicants must be unemployed.
    • Applicants annual income should be less than the given limit : -
      • Rs 1.5 lakh for Rural Areas beneficiaries.
      • Rs 2 lakh for Urban Areas beneficiaries.
    • Minimum education qualification of the applicant should be at least class 5th.
    • Applicants' age should be between 18 to 55 years.
    • Applicants must have tailoring skills or received training from institutions affiliated with TGMFC.
    • Applicants should not avail any benefits from TGMFC in the last five years.

    • Aadhaar Number.
    • Caste Certificate issued by the competent authority.
    • Address Proof.
    • Age Proof.
    • Ration Card or Food Security Card.
    • Passport Size Photograph.
    • Self Declaration that applicants did not receive any benefit from TGMFC.
    • Income Certificate.
    • Academic Qualification Documents.
    • Tailoring Training Certificate (Optional)
    • Mobile Number.

Steps to Apply

  • Applications forms for Telangana Sewing Machine Scheme are invited online.
  • The Online Application form for Free Sewing Machine Scheme are available at Telangana Online Beneficiary Management and Monitoring System (OBMMS).
  • Eligible women select the 'Sewing machine under Indiramma Mahila Shakti Scheme Application Link' from the home page.

  • Free Sewing Machine Scheme Application Form will appear on your screen.

  • Field marked in the application form with asterisk (*) are mandatory to fill.
  • Applicants are required to furnish their Personal and Address Details in the application form.
  • After submitting the details, applicants need to upload the following documents in jpg/png format ( file size between 50 kb to 1024 kb) :
    • Applicant Photograph.
    • Caste Certificate.
    • Tailoring Certificate (optional)
  • Preview the application form before its final submission.
  • Upon successful submission download the submitted application form.
  • Attach all required documents in the downloaded application form and submit it to the respective district minority welfare officer.
  • The Nodal department will verify the submitted applications.
  • After evaluation free sewing machines will be distributed to eligible women.
