Scheme Introduction: A Brief Overview

• In this rising inflation, it is so difficult for anyone to do a simple marriage and the situation could be even tougher if the marriage is of a girl.
• Karnataka is one of the state having low income tribal families which needed mandatory assistance for the marriage of their daughter.
• Seeking this, the Karnataka Government started Marriage Assistance Scheme for the welfare of Brides of Karnataka belonging to Scheduled Tribe Category.
• The primary objective to commence the scheme is to provide financial assistance for the marriage of girls belonging to the Schedule Tribe.
• Department of Scheduled Tribe Welfare of Karnataka Government is the nodal department of this scheme.
• Along with this scheme, the state government also providing marriage assistance to ST categories in their following schemes : -
  • ST Inter Caste Marriage Assistance Scheme.
  • ST Intra Caste Marriage Assistance Scheme.
  • ST Widow Re-Marriage Assistance Scheme.
• Under the Schedule Tribe Marriage Assistance Scheme, the state government is providing financial assistance of Rs. 50,000/- to the Brides belonging to Schedule Caste Category
• Bride and Groom belonging to Schedule Tribe Category are only eligible to avail the benefit of financial assistance for marriage.
• To be eligible for the scheme, the annual income of the family should be less than Rs. 2,00,000/-.
• Marriages held after 11-08-2015 are eligible for financial assistance under Karnataka Schedule Tribe Marriage Assistance Scheme.
• The applications for the financial assistance should be submitted within 1 year of marriage.
• Applications received post 1 year will not be considered by the authority.
• Marriage Certificate is required at the time of applying for Karnataka Schedule Tribe Marriage Assistance Scheme.
• Eligible Beneficiaries can apply for financial assistance by filling the Online Application Form of Karnataka Schedule Tribe Marriage Assistance Scheme.

Scheme Benefits

• The following financial assistance will be provided to Brides of Karnataka belonging to Schedule Tribe Category under Karnataka Schedule Tribe Marriage Assistance Scheme :-
  • Financial Assistance of Rs. 50,000/- for the Marriage of Schedule Tribe Brides of Karnataka.

Eligibility Requirements

• Couples should be Permanent Residents of Karnataka.
• Bride and Groom should belong to Schedule Tribe Category.
• Marriage should be held on or after 11-08-2015.
• The Annual Family Income of Bride should be below Rs. 2,00,000/-.
• Application for Assistance should be submitted within 1 year of marriage.

• The following documents is required at the time of applying for financial assistance under Karnataka Schedule Tribe Marriage Assistance Scheme :-
  • Domicile of Karnataka.
  • Aadhar Card of Bride and Bridegroom.
  • Caste Certificate.
  • Income Certificate.
  • Bank Account Details.
  • Marriage Photograph.
  • Marriage Certificate.
  • Mobile Number.

Steps to Apply

• Eligible Beneficiaries can apply for financial assistance under the Karnataka Schedule Tribe Marriage Assistance Scheme by filling Online Application Form.
• Karnataka Schedule Tribe Simple Marriage Assistance Scheme Application Form is available on Karnataka Government's Tribal Welfare Department Website.
• Beneficiaries have to Register themselves by entering Aadhaar Number of Bride and Groom.
• After Registration fill the basic details about Bride, Bride Groom, Address of Couple, Marriage Details in the Application Form.
• Upload all the required documents.
• Enter the Bank Account Details.
• Preview the Application Form carefully and Click the Submit Button.
• Print the Acknowledgement Receipt for future use.
• Application Form along with all documents will be forwarded for verification to the District Tribal Welfare Officer.
• After verification, the financial assistance under Karnataka Schedule Tribe Marriage Assistance Scheme will be transferred in the given bank account of beneficiaries.
